Abstract

The paper deals with the comparative analysis of the lexical units forming the grammatical class of the verb in the Russian and Orok languages and specified as the units having a general grammatical meaning of the action realized in time and which occupy the functional position of the predicate in the structure of a predicative construction (a simple sentence). Along with the comparability of the main verb categories, i.e. mood, tense, conjugation, modality, the lan-guages under comparison show a number of structural peculiarities of the Orok verb determined by the semantic char-acteristics of the Orok verb stem. The difference of the semantic structure of a non-derived verb stem from the seman-tic verb structure in the languages having a clearly expressed category of aspect lies in its more complex organization: a “pure” non-derived stem realizes an aspectual correlation, i.e. is of a dual aspectual character.
